About me
My name is Thien Phan and have a PhD in mechanical engineering from the University of Southern California. I am currently a postdoctoral researcher at the National Institute of Standards and Technology performing research on residual stresses in additive manufactured materials. I graduated from Berkeley with a B.S. and from USC with an M.S. in mechanical engineering. I dabbled in a little bit of everything in undergrad: combustion, aerodynamics, microfluids. I've worked at various labs at Berkeley, Harvard Medical School, as an independent consultant for a green energy start up, and as a project manager and research scientist for a nano-engineering company. You can find out more from my resume.
I enjoy hands on projects and learning new and random hobbies. Years ago, I used to build speakers, longboards, handheld lasers from CD burners. I also enjoy weight lifting, cooking, traveling, photography, motorcycles, and dogs :)
